A New Era for Manchester Barcraft

Manchester Barcraft, the portmanteau for watching StarCraft in Manchester, has had its final event yesterday in Kyoto Lounge due to its closure this month. Gamer Pulp attended, the event that was so busy the Bar had to pull in extra members of staff and they ran out of alcohol (proof that Barcrafters are the leviathans of drinking.)

This comes to an end of an era of the year of association between Manchester Barcraft and Kyoto. However it has been made clear that Manchester Barcraft will continue after a new venue is found. An announcement on the new venue will be made within the month.

In a quote John Harrington, one of the lead member of the Manchester Barcraft team, said:

“Thank you to everyone who has come out to a Barcraft since we started up last year. Thanks to the folks at Team Dignitas for their support, shoutouts to the fine folks at FM eSports, Clan Mythology and Team Betamaxx for their support, shoutouts to Derby, Leeds, Swansea, Essex, Newcastle and London Barcrafts for the support, shoutouts to the old gamerbase crew for getting the word out and for hosting the starcraft events, Jim Open Plan for getting the word out too, Shoutouts to the folks at ESL for their support (and for the fun Barcraft tournament), shoutouts to Blizzard for their support too!

This certainly isn’t the end for Manchester Barcraft, but we are starting back from square one. Hunting for venues, convincing new people that there are people out there who do want to come and watch eSports in a live setting. Over the next month or so we’ll keep you posted on what’s going on, we’ve had a few offers of assistance which I’m sure we’ll take up on, it’s been really good to see people are still keen to keep Barcraft going and especially with the comments/suggestions made tonight we’ll be back up and running in no time.”

You can keep updated with the Manchester Barcraft though their Facebook group where the new venue announcement will be made. Feel free to join the group if you’d like to join Manchester Barcraft or are a venue that would like to host their legendary nights!
