Manchester Comic Con 2014 Confirmed Due to Record Attendance

COMIC CON

A couple of days ago we published a report on Manchester Comic Con 2013, and everything that happened there. Not only was that our new team’s first outing, but it was somewhat of a special day for the hosts at MCM Expo.

The convention, which saw guests like Warwick Davis and Far Cry 3’s Michael Mando answering fan questions, achieved record attendance this year; its third time in Manchester. 19,350 people bought tickets for the event on Saturday, which has prompted MCM to not only confirm Comic Con 2014 already, but to also extend it over two days next year. To put that number into perspective, promoters say this means an increase in sales of 138%.

Part of the hype was no doubt down to Nintendo and Koch Media, who both had stalls showing off their latest games- including Mario Kart 7. With increased media attention, bigger names coming to exhibit, and better ticket sales, this could mean great things for Manchester Comic Con in the years to come.

“We’re really pleased to see such an extraordinary increase in visitor numbers,” said MCM Expo joint managing director Paul Miley. “With its expanded floorspace and stellar line-up, MCM Manchester Comic Con is going from strength-to-strength, and we will also be adding an extra day to the event when it returns to Manchester Central in 2014. It’s great to see so many visitors enjoying Manchester Comic Con’s mix of movies, videogames, anime, comics, cosplay and special guests, and we can’t wait to come back next July with even more!”
